Unfinished Utopias: Perfect World

Perfect World: Henry Darger, and the dangers of unreality.

A reclusive American writer and artist who worked as a custodian for his entire life, Darger became posthumously famous for the discovery of his 15 145 page, single-spaced fantasy manuscript, The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is Known as the The Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion, plus several hundred drawings and water color paintings, illustrating the story.

It was never published - and never completed - because Darger, living in squalor, desired to exist within the world of his stories, and couldn't bear to complete them.
